As the proponent of the nation’s first large-scale offshore wind energy project, Vineyard Wind fully understands that it must fully address every concern about the project that is raised by local residents and elected officials (“Vineyard Wind raises concerns,” Jan. 29, Page 1).

Vineyard Wind will vet every issue associated with development of the project and share related information with full transparency. There will be zero long-term impacts, and any short-term impacts associated with development will be minimized through state-of-the-art technologies, best-in-class construction practices and several layers of local, state and federal regulatory review.

The environmental and economic benefits associated with the Vineyard Wind project are of tremendous importance to the Cape, Islands and Southeastern Massachusetts. We are committed to developing an offshore wind project that will help Massachusetts meet its long-term goals of reduced greenhouse gas emissions, enhanced energy security and increased reliability. This commitment starts with agreements with Yarmouth, Barnstable and other Cape communities that every impact associated with the project will be mitigated to the satisfaction of all those involved.
