NEW BEDFORD, MA – July 20, 2024 – Following a report Friday afternoon from the Chatham Harbormaster that debris from the damaged GE Vernova wind turbine blade was located 3.5 miles southeast of Monomoy Island, nine vessels were immediately dispatched to the area, and the debris recovered at approximately 4:30 PM. Smaller debris was subsequently found in the vicinity, and the vessels collected those debris throughout Friday evening and during the day Saturday. Vineyard Wind is focused on assisting in the recovery of debris caused by GE Vernova’s damaged wind blade.

Following the Chatham Harbormaster’s report, relevant state and local officials, including Town Officials from across Cape Cod, area harbor masters, and the Cape Cod National Seashore/National Park Service, were notified to provide an update and situational awareness. Close coordination with all relevant government officials will continue throughout the weekend.

Beginning at 4:00 AM this morning, helicopter flyovers began over the Chatham and Monomoy areas. Ariel reconnaissance showed no debris west of Monomoy or stage harbor area as of this morning, but monitoring will continue.
