UPDATE 6/12/2020: The public comment period for the Supplement to the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (SEIS) is currently open until July 27, 2020.
The United States’ Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) has issued a Notice of Availability (NOA) for the SEIS for Vineyard Wind's offshore wind project, Vineyard Wind 1. The SEIS was prepared as part of the agency’s review of Vineyard Wind’s proposed 800-megawatt (MW) wind farm to be constructed in federal waters 14 miles south of Martha’s Vineyard and approximately 34 miles south of the Cape Cod mainland.
What is the SEIS?
The SEIS is the federal agency's analysis of cumulative impacts of every offshore wind development that is reasonably foreseeable on the East Coast of the United States in the next 10 years. This SEIS builds on analysis from the 2019 Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for Vineyard Wind 1. You can learn more about the SEIS and BOEM’s virtual public meetings here.
How do I learn more?
BOEM has a dedicated "Virtual Meeting Room" for the Vineyard Wind 1 SEIS. Visit the page to download fact sheets, view recorded presentations on various subjects, or download the SEIS and other documents.
