Initial permitting steps underway: public comment period open until January 30
Vineyard Wind has taken the first step in the permitting process by filing an Environmental Notification Form (ENF) with the Massachusetts Environmental Policy Act (MEPA) office. The ENF relates to the Vineyard Wind Connector, which is the submarine and buried cable which will connect the wind project to the state’s grid, and the substation equipment needed to make that connection. The purpose of the ENF and MEPA review is to ensure that all appropriate state permits are identified given the nature of the project and possible impacts.

Both the public and regulatory offices may make written comments to the ENF. After hearing public comment requesting additional time to make comments, Vineyard Wind has requested, and the MEPA office has granted, an extension of the deadline for comment. The new deadline for comment is now January 30.
You can provide public comment either by email to Ms. Purvi Patel, MEPA Analyst, at Purvi.patel@state.ma.us
