Vineyard Wind to Host Community Open House in Hyannis
When: Monday, January 22nd 2018 4:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M.
What: Vineyard Wind will hold the third in a series of community open house meetings for residents to meet with project staff and hear more about the proposal to construct an 800-megawatt offshore wind (OSW) facility in Federal waters approximately 15 miles south of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket and approximately 34 miles south of the Cape Cod mainland.
Where: Cape Codder Resort, 1225 Iyannough Road, Hyannis
Why: Residents who have an interest in learning more about the Vineyard Wind project or have concerns, questions, or ideas can speak directly to project representatives about the proposal to construct a large, utility-scale wind energy project off the coast of Massachusetts. The project will generate enough electricity to power over 400,000 homes. Vineyard Wind has already submitted the key federal and state permit applications, putting the project on track to start in-state construction in 2019, which would make the project the first commercial large-scale offshore wind farm in the United States, and deliver significant economic development and clean energy benefits to residents and businesses in the Commonwealth sooner than any other proposal.
